Greene Contemporary is pleased to welcome Nicole Mauser into the space in May, 2006. Mauser will graduate from the Ringling School of Art and Design three days after her show opens. This is her first solo exhibition of her paintings.
Mauser is driven by absorption, mainly the absorption of streaming information. Her paintings create a kinetic memory on the picture plane that becomes the image itself. Her choice of colors and forms address the notion and reconfiguration of her subject. Her palette is derived from political maps and synthetic paint swatches. Her entire painting process facilitates and documents her expanding worldview. The paintings functions as self-portraits as much as they are purely formal endeavors.
