ART FAIR: SCOPE Hamptons

East Hampton, NY - East Hampton Studios
July 13 - 16, 2006
Jonathan Greene is pleased to announce that Greene Contemporary has been accepted to Scope Hamptons 2006. There were only three other galleries in the state of Florida selected for the Hamptons fair this year, two from Miami and one from West Palm Beach. Scope Hamptons 2006 is anticipated to continue the immense success of Scope New York 2006 and last year's Scope Hamptons 2005. There is already great buzz about Scope Hamptons 2006, in the summer home to some of the most famous collectors in the world. Scope Hamptons 2006 will feature 60 of the best emerging and established international galleries. Scope also has art fairs in London in October and Miami in December.

Scope Hamptons runs from Friday, July 14th to Sunday, July 16th with a VIP collector's preview on Thursday, July 13th. This summer the fair will be held at East Hampton Studios, centrally located near East and South Hamptons, Sag Harbor and North Shore at 75 Industrial Road in Wainscott. The Fair hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Greene Contemporary's application to Scope was accepted with Joseph Arnegger as the featured artist. Other artists represented by Greene Contemporary including, but not limited to, Omar Chacon and Sabrina Small will also be featured in their booth. Arnegger's work is complex and layered. His images are often nostalgic and his colors have a patina of age as well. The materials such as found wood or industrial metals he uses for the foundation of his paintings already have a history of their own. His mark making on the surface and the patinas of it he creates result in images that are unconventionally beautiful. His process of combining personal references that resonate with a broader audience in his choice of imagery result in paintings that the viewer wants to return to again and again.
